In 2008, the Orange County Board of Elections will conduct a Primary Election on May 6, 2008, and a General Election on November 4, 2008, for local, state and federal offices.

May Primary Election Timelines and Deadlines:
- Candidate filing begins - February 11, 2008, Noon
- Candidate filing ends - February 29, 2008, Noon
- Advertisement of election - March 17, 2008
- Advertisement of election - March 24, 2008

- Absentee ballots available- March 17, 2008
- Registration books close for Primary- April 11, 2008, 5:00 p.m.
- One Stop Voting begins at the Orange Co. Public Library- April 17, 2008 (other locations and times to be announced)
- Deadline to request absentee ballots in writing - April 29, 2008, 5:00 p.m.
- One stop voting ends - May 3, 2008, 1:00 p.m.
- Absentee ballots must be received in BOE office - May 5, 2008, 5:00 p.m.
- Date of Primary Election - May 6, 2008, Polls are open 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
- Provisional ballots approved - May 9, 2008
- Official Canvass - May 13, 2008, 11:00 a.m.
- Certificates of Nomination/Election issued - May 19, 2008
- Deadline to request 2nd Primary/Statewide recount - May 15, 2008
- Soil and Water filing period begins - June 9, 2008, Noon
- Second Primary (if necessary) - June 24, 2008
- Soil and Water filing period ends - July 7, 2008
