What You're Saying on the Street

Hello! You all may be aware that I host The West End Report (Wednesday edition; 6pm) on WCOM 103.5 LP FM -- Carrboro's all-volunteer, Community Radio station.

But did you also know that I now report for WCHL 1360 News-Talk Radio?

My wonderful News Director just gave me the popular segment, 'What You're Saying on the Street" to revamp in my own personal style.

WYSOS will feature opinions of Chapel Hill-Carrboro residents on hot-topic issues in our community. Recently, I produced the segment to find out your thoughts on Carrboro passing the same-sex marriage resolution and if Chapel Hill should follow suit.

New documentary about WCOM

Elon University students created a 15-minute documentary film about WCOM and Low Power FM stations called "103.5: A Radio Community."

The film has also been submitted into the Carrboro Film Festival, but you can watch it right here...

Check out Ruby on WCOM 103.5 LP FM

OrangePolitics.org's own Ruby Sinreich will be my guest today on WCOM's West End Report (6pm). Ruby and I will be discussing the talk of the town, primarily getting the audience updated on the Abbey Court situation.

Once again being inspired by Tom Arnel's Placeholder show's Guest DJ feature, I have also asked Ruby to bring along her favorite music to play.

If you are not in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area, you can listen online here

We welcome calls for questions for Ruby 919-929-9601

Thanks so much...

CARRBORO, N.C. -

WCOM, a Carrboro-based radio station run solely by volunteers, is trying to get the word out about its mission and get some more support from the community.

The 100-watt radio station, which broadcasts about five miles, was started in 2004. The content is all community-based with more than 60 shows on the air. The variety of programs range from the local music scene to bilingual to youth programs. And despite the little funding the station has, it broadcasts live on the web 24/7.

Glen Lennox discussion on WCOM

Greg Brusseau of Save Glen Lennox will be the guest on the Wednesday edition of WCOM's West End Report with LMT hosting. Greg will discuss the inside scoop he got from a N&O reporter about Grubb properties backing out of their bid and caving into the community to redesign their plan.

Tune into 103.5 LP FM (Carrboro/Chapel Hill area) at 6pm or you can stream us by clicking here. I'm hoping that Ruby calls us at the studio LIVE from the OP Happy Hour with an update: 919-929-9601. Freel free to call with questions. The first caller gets a Save Glen Lennox T-shirt!

OP on the radio

05/06/2008 - 8:30pm
Location:
WCOM, 103.5 FM

Tune to WCOM in at 8:30 on Election night (tomorrow) for a half hour of discussion about the 2008 primary election with me and Carrboro elected officials Mark Chilton and Dan Coleman. Listen on the radio at 103.5 FM if you are in central Carrboro, anywhere else you can catch the Internet stream at http://communityradio.coop.

I will also attempt to stream a live video of us while we're on the air. If that works, you can find the video right here on this page.

Afterward we will either hit the candidate parties (where are they?) or go home and geek out on election data.
