Filing Day Open Thread

Today at noon began the 14-day filing period for candidates running for any of the 21 seats that Damon told us about. We'll celebrate the end of filing with the next OP happy hour on July 15th in Hillsborough.

So the 2-3 inches of snow never materialized, but we got just enough ice to slow things to a halt and shut down the schools.

This isn't the kind of snow day where there's much fun to be had outside. What are y'all making of it?

Election Day Open Thread

Did you vote early, did you vote today, what did you see? Any candidates at the poll sites? Any rude campaign workers?

And most importantly, where are the candidates' parties tonight?

I won't be attending any of them as I'll be glued to the computer watching results, phoning it in to WCHL occasionally, and then recording my customary election wrap up video. (Should I use Ustream again? http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/6682869 It's so full of ads.)

Did you vote today or early? What's going on out there?

I expect some reports on this page from some the students who worked on the site this semester and hopefully other readers will chime in as you usually do. This year, we're also using Twitter to track election goings on, so I'm embedding a feed of the latest tweets tagged #OCNCelect (per last week's survey).
